Finance Director

Position Description: This position will direct and oversee the City’s Finance/Accounting Department, Utility Billing/Collections Department, Municipal Court, and Senior Nutrition Activities Program and is the City Secretary.

Duties: Responsible for general accounting, payroll, debt management, cash and investment management, preparation of quarterly investment report to the City Commission, monthly reporting of financial information to the City Commission, risk management, preparation and control of a total combined budget of 14.8 million, and is contact person for annual audit.

Qualifications: BBA in accounting, finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years progressively responsible governmental experience, CPA and/or CGFO preferred.

Water Plant Operator

Salary

• This position is full-time and includes full benefits.
• The job grade is 10A and pays $2661.48 per month.
• Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
• Must possess a High School diploma or GED
• Possess a Valid Texas Drivers License
• Must be able to obtain a “C” Surface Water License from TCEQ within two years.
• Must have strong math skills, computer knowledge, general knowledge of the operations of pumps, motors, chemical feed equipment, lab skills and knowledge of minor electrical repairs and trouble shooting. This may consist of the use of an OHM meter for electrical trouble shooting.
• Must have or be able to obtain a non-commercial Structural Pest and Weed Control License within a year.
• Must be skilled in the operation of a tractor shredder and forklift.
• Must be able to work overtime and on weekends on short notice.
• Shift work may be required which will include evenings, midnights, and weekends if Oak Creek Lake is brought back on line for treatment through the plant.
• There will be a mandatory on call rotation at the water treatment plant. This will include after hours and on weekends to perform lab procedures on the weekend and emergency call outs for the plant and well field on short notice.

Police Officer Entrance Exam

An entrance examination to establish a hire list for the City of Sweetwater Police Department will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the City of Sweetwater Water Treatment Plant Training Room located at 169 County Road 217. Late arrivals will ¬not be admitted. Those who pass the written examination will have further testing the next day. Applications will be accepted through the Texas Workforce Center office located at 1105 Bell St. or by contacting Lisa Adames/HR Director at . All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 21 years to 44 years of age.

• Must be high school graduate or have equivalent GED.

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have a satisfactory background driving record and pass a background investigation.

• Must be able to read and write the English language.

• Must be a citizen of the United States.

• Preferably possess certification as a peace officer as established by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) at time of examination. Applicant shall provide evidence of certification on or before date of entrance examination.

• If applicant served in the armed forces of the United States, a DD-214 must be produced with application.

• Must be physically sound free from any defect, which may adversely affect his/her performance of duty.

• The resulting hire list will be effective for six months.

Seasonal Parks Workers

Salary

• The positions are part-time
• The job pays $7.50 per hour
• Working hours Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral / written directions
• Ability to identify and correct potential safety hazards
• Skill to operate push mower, tractor-shredder and riding mower as well as rotary tiller, weed eater, chain saw
• Ability to perform work requiring strength and agility in all weather conditions for extended periods of time

• Must be able to work outside in extreme hot, cold or wet weather conditions
